How To Pray Effective Prayers for your Husband

For the past several months, I have had the great privilege of writing one guest post per month for a blog entitled The Young Wives Club. This blog is dedicated to young wives (obviously) who could use some encouragement, guidance, advice, and/or support as they grow in their new(ish) marriages. Recently I wrote for them about praying for our husbands. Sounds simple enough, yet oftentimes I feel that we miss the great purpose and seriousness of this “simple” action. Read on to find out How to Pray Effective Prayers for Your Husband.

I have only recently discovered the greatness of podcasts. People have told me countless times that I should be checking them out, but you know, life happens and I forget. Much time has passed since these little audio gems have become main stream, but once again, I’m late to the party. And not fashionably late either. So anyway, the other day I was listening to my new favorite podcast, which was on prayer. And while it was meant to be directed at myself, I began thinking of how I should be (or could be) praying for my husband. And beyond that, I want to learn how to pray effective prayers for my husband.

Why pray for your husband?

It probably goes without saying, but if you’re new to marriage, new to the Christian life, or you’ve just been distracted from prayer, it’s time to get on your knees with your husband’s well being in focus. Ladies, this world is vying for your man’s attention. And let me tell you, it uses sick and twisted ideas and methods to work its way into his conscious thoughts. I don’t know about you, but this idea terrifies me some days.

But the great relief here is that God has equipped us with the most powerful battle tool in the universe – prayer. And most of us are underutilizing it in regard to our men. Let’s change that right now!

So… How do you pray effectively for your husband?

  1. Read this over at Young Wives’ Club! Great post! I have seen so many positive things happen when I’ve decided to pray right in the middle of a tense situation rather than react. The Holy Spirit knows just what to do! I’m so encouraged that the Holy Spirit can pray through us when we don’t know what to pray! Lifesaver! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
